The Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS), has inaugurated a rehabilitated Primary Health Centre in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Lagos.
The elderstatemen provided a generator and pipe borne water for the health centre.
The association also donated relief materials to rehabilitation centers in Owutu and Majidun in Ikorodu.
President of ALARHOSPS, Mr Femi Olugbile, described healthy living as key to nation development.
According to him, most health challenges can be resolved if primary health care centres performed optimally.
“We focus on aesthetics, environment, water and power as these are critical areas of need in health service delivery especially at the grass root. We know that government can’t do everything, the private and voluntary organisations need to come in to reduce health burden on the state,” he said.
On donation to the rehabilitation centers, he said: “there is a great need to make the centers as stimulating as possible to make the inhabitants live and contribute their quota to the larger society. There is ability in disability. It is expression of our love and recognition of the patterns of the work that is being done here.”
He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of what has been given to them and ensure proper maintenance.
Vice Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Mrs Folake Kayode hailed ALARHOSPS for contributing to the society despite not in service.
“You have done well by reducing our burden – the building, the water and electricity. This is beautiful. I doff my hat to you. This will have a far reaching effect in developing our community. Other retirees should emulate this gesture,” she said.
Director of Rehabilitation Department in the Lagos State Ministry Youth and Social Development, Mrs Toyin Jaiyeola, who represented the Permanent Secretary, also thanked ALARHOSPS.
“We believe there is ability in disability. We are grateful for putting us in mind and pray to God to continue to bless you,” she said.
