Akwa Ibom State Association of the Deaf, one of the Associations that make up Joint National Association of Persons With Disability (JONAPWD), has called on state Governor, Umo Eno to reappoint Dr Ini Adiakpan as Ministry of Women Affairs and Social welfare in the state.

The group also praised the performance of the Honourable Commissioner on inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Speaking during the Uyo LG chapter Meeting of the Association held on Sunday 11th June 2023 at discovery park, the state chairman, David Polycarp noted that Persons with disabilities have never had it so good when it comes to inclusion of PWDs in the government Programmes and activities despite Adiakpan’s short tenure between 2020 -2023 during the administration of former governor Udom Emmanuel.

His word; “Dr. Ini Adiakpan is a inclusionist and all her policies are inclusive. It’s not out of place to say that with her continuing as Commissioner for Women Affairs under His Excellency Umo Eno, the Akwa ibom State Disability Act will be assented and implemented”.

He encouraged members to pray for her return as Commissioner for Women Affairs and social welfare and for His Excellency Umo Eno to have smooth administration.
