The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a 75 percent reduction in the cost of nomination and expression of interest forms for women and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) seeking elective offices on the party’s platform.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on May 12, 2026, by the ADC National Woman Leader, Naomi Lasara Abel, who described the move as part of efforts to eliminate financial barriers and promote inclusive governance.
According to the statement, all female aspirants and PWDs will now pay only 25 percent of the original cost of nomination forms for all elective positions, in line with the party’s commitment to gender mainstreaming and equal political participation.
Under the new pricing structure, presidential nomination forms have been reduced to ₦22.5 million, Senate forms to ₦2.5 million, House of Representatives forms to ₦1.25 million, while House of Assembly forms will now cost ₦250,000 for eligible aspirants.
Hon. Abel said the policy was designed to encourage broader participation of women and persons with disabilities in politics by easing the financial burden associated with contesting elections.
She also assured women who had earlier purchased forms at the previous rates that arrangements were already being made for refunds.
“For those trailblazing women who have already purchased their forms at the previous rates, a structured process is already underway to facilitate refunds,” the statement noted.
The ADC National Woman Leader commended the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for approving the reduction, describing the decision as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice.
She further called on women across the country to take advantage of the opportunity by joining the party and participating actively in the political process.
Hon. Abel added that the initiative reflects the ADC’s vision of building a more inclusive democracy where women and persons with disabilities can access leadership positions without undue financial constraints.
