The Oyo State government, at the closing of its second quarter of the Omituntun Free Health Mission, said over 350,000 residents received free treatment for different medical conditions, including dental and eye care services.
Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashir Bello said that 3,633 of them had benefited from surgical operations, including free cataract surgeries, caesarian sections, and distribution of free recommended eyeglasses.
He stated that the free health mission flagged off 4th of June afforded free breast examination, breast lump removal and sent for investigation to determine if it was cancer or not as well as free HIV counseling and testing in all the local government areas visited.

He declared that the award of contracts for positioning one functional health facility per ward had been awarded, semi-autonomy for selected health facilities and Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital granted accreditation for training in obstetrics and gynaecology was to ensure that health provision remains on the front burner in the state.
Chairman, Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Dr Gbola Adetunji urged continuous support of the Oyo State government as individuals prioritise their health.
Consultant-in-charge of Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Dr Akintunde Ayinde said the free health mission was targeted at the indigents in the community to ensure they could assess healthcare while at their doorstep.
Coordinator, Omituntun Free medical Mission, Dr Wale Falana urged benefactors of the free medical mission to take their medications even as he assured that individuals left out this second quarter will be reached during the next episode of free health.
