The Chairman, House Committee on Persons with disabilities, Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha alongside her colleagues investigated the alleged unwarranted discriminations against persons with disabilities by Airline operators in Nigeria.
In her speech, she stated that on no account should these special citizens be treated as second class citizens in the midst of their counterparts.
She reiterated the effort of the National Assembly to sanction any airline operator found in such an inhuman act. Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha charged the operators to work in accordance with the Act establishing them, adding that the said persons should be accorded a special attention in the discharge of their professional duties.
Other house members of the committee equally lent their voices, as they thanked Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha for summoning such an investigative process where the rights/privileges of persons with disabilities are thoroughly protected.
Recall that recently,Hon. Onuoha presented a motion on the floor of the national assembly, on the need to investigate the obnoxious cases of discrimination being meted on persons living with disabilities in the country by some airline operators. The motion which was successful and timely led to the above investigative hearing,as further steps are to be taken by the national assembly to ensure that persons living with disabilities in the country are treated equally, alongside every other citizen.
