The Center For Ability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment in Nigeria (CARE.NIGERIA) has condemned in very strong terms the continuous discriminatory actions of Dana Air on persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the Chief Responsibility Officer of CARE Nigeria, Dr. Chike Okogwu, he stated “We at The Center For Ability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment in Nigeria (CARE.NIGERIA) condemn in very strong words, the actions over and over again of Messrs Dana Air on the plight of Persons With Disabilities.
“Within days, we have been inundated by discriminatory actions of DanaAir. From charging for wheelchair use at the airport to charging fares to freight your wheelchair to abandoning a deaf passenger. The issues are just too much and as such he recommended that,
“The National Commission For Persons With Disabilities should immediately convene a public hearing in line with her powers as a commission to call Dana Air particularly to order.”
He also advised all aggrieved PWDs to send in their petitions to the Commission and equally send same to: National Human Rights Commission, Senate Committee On Aviation, House Committee On Aviation, House Committee On PWDs and Special Needs, The Minister of Aviation, The DG, FAAN, The Senate President, The Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives. (Attn: S.A. on PWDs).
“We have to rise in unison and fight this monster called DanaAir or else others will take us for a ride.” He said.
