The Bauchi State government has launched the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and enrolled 45,000 eligible vulnerable beneficiaries, including children under 5 years of age, pregnant women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities across 323 electoral wards in the state to provide an affordable minimum package of healthcare services.
USAID Integrated Health Program’s embedded technical support and capacity building to the Bauchi State Contributory Health Agency assisted the Agency to meet eligibility criteria for assessing funds for the scheme from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and National Health Insurance gateway.
In his keynote address, Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela stated, “The scheme is coming at the right time because of the devastating effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy, agriculture, and social development and made health care services accessible to citizens who previously had difficulties accessing services”.
The State Deputy Governor officially flagged off the scheme at the Liman Katagum Primary Health care Center in the presence of the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro, government officials, traditional rulers, development partners and community members
