Multiple Deaths: ASLIN Condoles Deaf Community

The Association of Sign Language Interpreters of Nigeria, ASLIN has sent in condolence messages to the Nigeria Deaf Community over the loss of five of its members who died within a span of 4 days in the Northwestern zone of the nation.

ASLIN Northwest Coordinator, Abdulkadir M.B Umar, sent in the consolatory message in a statement signed on behalf of the association by its president, Mr. Timothy G. Tinat.

Mr. Tinat expressed shocked at receiving the sad news and remarked at the great loss, not only to the deaf community but also to ASLIN and Nigeria in general.

The deceased deaf members were referred to as generous, friendly, cooperative and selfless. The ASLIN President expressed deep sympathy and grief as he prayed for their eternal rest in “Jannantul firdaus” (garden of paradise). He also prayed for the quick recovery of the other victims who sustained various degrees of injuries.

Going further, he also condoled with the families and friends of some deaf members who passed on recently, Mr. Yakubu Dogara and Mr. Ronald Magaji from Kaduna and Taraba states respectively. Both died after brief illnesses. Tinat assured that the deaf community and ASLIN family will continue to remember their goodness and kindness.

“On behalf of the ASLIN family therefore, we sincerely condole with the Sokoto, Kaduna and Taraba Deaf communities.” He said.
