NCPWD hosts CHAI to validate Assistive Technology Country Capacity Assessment

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities on Wednesday 30th of June, 2021 played host to the part 2 of the stakeholders’ meeting on Assistive Technology Country Capacity Assessment Validation at the Plateau House office Abuja.

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by head of media and publicity, NCPWD Mbanefo JohnMichael I. on Thursday, 1st of July.

The meeting which was prompted by the Clinton Health Initiative (CHAI) was aimed at validating the final report review arrived at during the previous assembly.

The Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Mr James David Lalu who was represented at the event by the Ag. Director Social Integration Department NCPWD Mr Lawrence Idemudia said that the Commission is set to develop a sustainable financial system that will help in the procurement and provisions of the Assistive Technology for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.

He further stated that in dealing with the policy created in the procurement of Assistive Technology (AT), the Commission is already creating Data and Information System that will help the suppliers of the apparatus to know the total numbers of PWDs in the country.

In addition the ES disclosed that the Commission in union with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development are developing a road map which will ensure that the right procedure in obtaining the device for PWDs both at the Federal and State levels is put in place.
