Kaduna’s Amputee Labourer Takes New Bride 4 Years After Wife’s Death

by Inclusive News Network

Kaduna’s amputee labourer, Abdulraheem Idris, is set to take a new bride in a ceremony scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 26 at Unguwan Shanu, Jimi Road, Lagos Street in Kaduna metropolis.

The wedding comes four years after Idris’s wife died in childbirth leaving him with four children.

The 30-year-old Ogun State-born amputee labourer in 2018 captured attention while doing manual labour not all able-bodied young men can do.

After losing his limb in an accident in 2012, his ability as a labourer had somehow brought some fame for Idris.

He said due to his strong will, he never allowed his physical challenge to dampen his “can do” spirit.

Idris, who was an apprentice motor mechanic before he engaged in menial work, was asked to move a vehicle to the outfit’s workshop in Kawo from the bye-pass when he had the accident.

Speaking with our correspondent, Idris said he met his bride while doing menial jobs in Unguwan Dosa.

He said, “I met her while I was doing my usual job. She is okay with my means of livelihood and we will be getting married on Saturday.”

Speaking on how he is coping, he said “Challenges are inevitable in life. It’s just that when you are physically challenged, it is more strenuous. I have instances when I go to look for work, people upon just seeing an amputee will think I have come to beg and send me away.”

He however said he thanks God that he has been given the opportunity to show the world that he can do what able-bodied people are doing and pray it’s the beginning of more opportunities to come. (Dailytrust)
