The President, Nigerian National Association of the Deaf, NNAD, Dr. Chidi Olujie Topaz has yet again got recognition for his humanitarian gestures toward deaf persons in the country and for his drive toward achieving their full emancipation.
The award was presented to Chidi by the Executive Director, Advocate for Disability Inclusion Initiative (ADII), Mrs. Hadiza Daret Kasimu during the closing ceremony of a special training on poultry farming and presentation of empowerment materials to 500 participants in Bauchi State. The training was organized by ADII.
Mrs. Kasimu, while presenting the award, appreciated Mr. Olujie’s efforts in the humanitarian cause. She also commended his passion towards improving the lives of deaf people.

Receiving the award on behalf of Dr. Chidi Olujie was the zonal coordinator, NNAD Northeast Zone, Bashir Usman Kellumi. Mr. Kellumi thanked the Executive Director of ADII for the special award. He further reiterated the commitment of the Dr. Olujie led Executives toward improving the lives of the deaf.
He seized the opportunity to advice other NGOs to emulate the exemplary gestures of the Bauchi based NGO of Mrs. Kasimu.
According to him, NNAD alone cannot handle the numerous challenges facing the Deaf community.
Another awardee at the occasion was Mr. David Musa King (DMK).
