Lawmaker Bankrolls Construction Of Classroom Blocks For Deaf Students In Daura

A Member of Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya, representing Daura Constituency has personally undertaken to bankroll the construction of two blocks of classrooms to support education of the deaf and hard of hearing in the State.

The construction works is sited within the Deaf Institute, Daura. The lawmaker is concurrently undertaking the siting of an office and a store inside the Institute.
The welcome development was disclosed by Yahaya during an interview with the press in Daura on Thursday. According to him, the new facilities should improve abilities/capabilities of these Special Children.

“We must come together to bring meaningful education to Deaf persons in the country,” he said. Reiterating further, the lawmaker called on mainstream society to accord more care and courtesy to people with disabilities.

Earlier, sometime in February 2020, the lawmaker had procured and rehabilitated 50 boreholes in Daura, Katsina State, to enhance access to clean water.

The project was part of efforts to provide the people of the State with clean and safe, portable drinking water. Yahaya noted that the multi-million Naira project was designed to supply safe drinking water to some 100, 000 residents of the area.
