Applicants with Disability Bemoans Neglect By Disability Commission

The Association of Applicants and Workers with Disability has called for effective functioning of the National Commission for Persons with Disability to address their challenges.

The National President of the Association Doctor Godstime Onyegbunam made the call during a peaceful protest by the Association in Abuja.

Doctor Onyegbunam expressed regret that the Commission had neglected Persons with Disability in whose interest the Commission was established.

He stressed the need for the authorities concerned to follow the provisions of the act establishing the Commission in carrying out its responsibilities.

Responding, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr James Lalu while calling for patience explained that plans were on for employment into the Commission with sixty percent reserved for those with challenges.

Mr Lalu also said the federal government would set up a committee to ensure government establishments accommodate those with Disability.

Neglect! The Executive Secretary of the commission hasn’t even be in office for up to six months. The Executive Secretary is not a magician and he should be given enough time to prove his worths.
Injustice of many years can’t be corrected within six months.

The able bodied are using you to make it look like pwds cannot do it for us
So that they can come take over.

Abeg, the man at the helms of affairs should be allowed to settle down. Too much unnecessary disturbance is a distraction
