A rape suspect was yet to wake up on Wednesday 24 hours after he was beaten to a coma by a mob for raping and plucking out the eyes of his victim.
The incident happened on Monday at Oluwatuyi area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Witnesses said it was the arrival of policemen that stopped the rapist from being lynched.
The witness said the suspect could not say his name or where he is from.
Both the victim and the rapist are still in a state of unconsciousness at the police clinic in Akure.
Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident but said the family of the victim was yet to be seen.
