World Disability Day: Super Parents Foundation calls for healthcare access for children with disabilities

The Super Parents Foundation, an initiative that focuses on supporting vulnerable persons especially parents of children with disabilities, children with disabilities and young widows, has called for free healthcare access for children with disabilities in Lagos State.

The foundation made the call in an event organised to commemorate the international day of persons with disabilities. The event titled “Meet, Greet and Share” held at Shasha Akowonjo, on December 3, had vulnerable groups gathered together for advocacy walk, experience sharing, among other exciting experiences.

Speaking on the occasion, founder of the organisation, Barrister Mofoluwasho Liasu said providing access to healthcare service is key to good healthy living for children with disabilities. She said most children with disabilities don’t enjoy healthcare access in Lagos.

Liasu called for free healthcare access for children with disabilities between the age of 0-15 years old, according to her, such effort will lessen financial burdens on parents of children with disabilities.

She also lauded Lagos State government for making provisions to persons with disabilities, while urging the state government to do more on health and education, as doing such will ameliorate the plights of persons with Disability.

INN reports that the foundation, in its efforts to improve the lives of children with special needs, visited two orphanage homes, it had adopted and offered supports with therapy sessions to Centre for Destitute Empowerment International and Comfort Light House Home. The foundation has been supporting the orphanage homes for over two years.
