Bilikisu Yakubu, National Coordinator of the Advocacy for Women with Disabilities Initiative (AWWDI) has stated that the successful reinstatement of Aisha Aminu, a trained visually impaired Nurse to her position at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Bida, is a milestone in the advocacy for disability inclusion.
Yakubu, said this in a statement she signed on Tuesday.
AWWDI was among advocates pursuing justice for Aisha who faced discrimination despite her successful performance in the selection exam.
“Aisha Aminu, a dedicated and valued member of our community, encountered an unjust setback in her professional journey. Her case was taken up by AWWDI, highlighting our commitment to advocating for the rights and inclusion of women with disabilities.
“We are deeply grateful to the Federal Medical Centre Bida for their decisive actions and for exemplifying that disability inclusion is a collective responsibility.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to both the government and the management of FMC Bida for their support in resolving this situation.”
Yakubu notes that Aisha’s reinstatement is not just a victory for her, but a broader triumph for the principles of equality and inclusion.
