PWDs Urge Governor Mbah to Fulfill Promise on Disability Commission

by Inclusive News Network

The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Enugu State Chapter, has called on Governor Peter Mbah to fulfill his pledge to establish the Enugu State Disability Commission.

In a statement issued Friday in Enugu, JONAPWD Chairman, Onyebuchi Mba, reminded the governor of his commitment made during the last State Town Hall meeting, where he assured that the commission would be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

Mba emphasized that the establishment of the commission would provide Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) a much-needed sense of belonging and inclusion in the state’s development agenda.

“Governor Mbah should honor his promise to set up the Enugu State Disability Commission,” he said. “While we acknowledge his transformative leadership and dedication to inclusivity, PWDs still face significant socio-economic exclusion and marginalization.”

He urged the state government to prioritize the needs of PWDs by integrating disability inclusion into governance and promoting equal access and representation.

“With collective support, PWDs can drive meaningful change and ensure that the rights of persons with disabilities are respected and protected,” he added.
