The Bauchi State Association of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) has declared its support for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The association made its position known on Thursday when its Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Dr. Adamu.
The PWD leaders said their decision was driven by the need to ensure that persons with disabilities remain active stakeholders in discussions and decisions concerning the future of Bauchi State.
They highlighted education, healthcare, economic empowerment, accessibility and greater representation in governance as key areas requiring sustained attention.
Responding to the delegation, Dr. Yakubu Adamu thanked the association for the visit and emphasised the importance of an inclusive political process that recognises persons with disabilities as stakeholders and contributors to development, rather than merely beneficiaries of government programmes.
Also speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of the Yakubun Bauchi Ambassadors Forum, Daure David, described the endorsement as a significant boost to the APM candidate’s political movement.
“It is indeed a sign of victory when persons with disabilities choose to support a candidate; it is not a joking matter,” David said.
He commended Ibrahim Muhammad for facilitating the engagement, describing him as resourceful and committed to the political movement associated with Dr. Yakubu Adamu.
Inclusive News Network reports that Dr. Yakubu Adamu was affirmed as the APM governorship candidate in May 2026, with Hon. Mahmood Babamaji Abubakar as his running mate.
The latest engagement comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections and renewed efforts by electoral stakeholders to strengthen the participation and representation of persons with disabilities in the electoral process.
