Three Persons with disabilities (PWDs) were elected into 7th Executive Council of the Conference of Non Governmental Organizations (CONGOS) during the general election held on 7th May, 2024.
The action demonstrates policy of social Inclusiveness of the organisation.
Comrade Dr Bartholomew Okoudo FCS was elected president, Comrade Emmanuel Omoike and Comrade Martin Audu were also voted Deputy Director of Administration and Internal Auditor respectively
Reacting to the this development, the Chairperson National Association of Persons with Disability, Edo State chapter Comrade Ann Ojugo appreciated CONGOS for according Persons with Disability recognition and creating the enabling environment for them to proof their worth.
Ojugo commended Edo State Government for it’s support for persons with Disability through the assent of the governor to the Edo State Disability Act and call for the speedy implementation of the act.
She urged the elected officers not to betray the confidence reposed in them. She particularly call on the President to run an inclusive government.
Conference of Non Governmental Organizations (CONGOS) is a coalition of over two hundred and fifty civil Society Organizations working in different thematic areas of social development. It envisioned a state in which the civil Society will play its primary role driving development in partnership with the private and public sector. It is the voice of the voiceless in the society.
