The Kano State Government has congratulated the newly elected members of the Non-State Actors Steering Committee of the Kano State Open Government Partnership (OGP), following a successful election held on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the state government commended the Non-State Actors Election Committee for conducting a peaceful, credible, transparent and inclusive election.
The government also appreciated the active participation of accredited civil society organisations (CSOs), as well as local and national observers, noting that their contributions strengthened the credibility and integrity of the electoral process.
The successful election, according to the government, reflects stakeholders’ commitment to participatory governance, transparency, accountability and democratic values in Kano State.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of the Open Government Partnership and pledged to strengthen collaboration with civil society, development partners, the private sector, the media and citizens to deepen reforms, enhance public trust and improve service delivery across the state.
Among the newly elected civil society representatives is Abdulrahman Uba Daushe, who will represent Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on the Kano State OGP Steering Committee.
Other elected members include Abdulrahman Abdu, Co-Chair of OGP and representative for Anti-Corruption; Hassan Ibrahim Gama, Service Delivery; Peter Hassan Tijjani, Access to Information; Mustapha Muhammed Chiroma, Fiscal Transparency; Comrade A. A. Haruna Ayagi, Access to Justice; Dr. Kabiru Hamisu Kura, Climate Change; Zuwaira Omar Muhammad, Citizens’ Engagement; Hajiya Khadiza Kishimi, representing the Nigeria Labour Congress; and Engr. Rabiu Hamisu, representing Professional Bodies.
The Kano State Government wished the newly elected members a successful tenure and expressed confidence in their ability to advance the OGP agenda in the state.
It said it looks forward to working with the Non-State Actors Steering Committee to promote transparency, fiscal openness, access to information, citizens’ participation, climate action, anti-corruption reforms, improved service delivery and access to justice.
The government reiterated its commitment to building an open, accountable and people-centred government that promotes sustainable development and improves the lives of residents across Kano State.
