Protest: Deaf Association Urges Members to Exercise Restraint

The Abuja Association of the Deaf (AAD) has called on its members to refrain from participating in tomorrow’s protest and instead urged the government to take swift and decisive action to address the pressing issue of hunger in the country.

The Chairman of the Association, Ayoade Beyioku-Alase, made the call in a statement he signed and made available to Inclusive News Network on Wednesday.

According to Beyioku-alase, “As an organization representing the Deaf community in FCT, we are deeply concerned about the impact of hunger on our members and the wider society. We believe that it is essential to give our government sufficient time to implement effective solutions to this critical problem, as promised.

“We urge the government to prioritize initiatives that will provide relief to those struggling with hunger and food insecurity, as well as empowerment and employment opportunities for the vulnerable.

The Chairman calls on members to stay safe and avoid any actions that might put them at risk.

“Furthermore, we will continue to advocate for our rights and needs through constructive dialogue and collaboration with the government to ensure that Deaf representatives are included in the decision-making process.

“Let us work together to build a more equitable and just society where everyone has access to basic necessities like food.” He said.
