Plateau Government Hands Over Office Building to NCPWD

The Plateau State Government has officially handed over the North Central zonal office building to the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD). The ceremony, which marked a significant milestone in the promotion of inclusivity, took place in Jos on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Chief Ayuba Gufwan, Executive Secretary of the NCPWD, along with his team of Directors, received the facility from the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Manasseh Muftwang, who was represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Land, Survey, and Planning, Hon. Peter Nyan Gai.

During his speech, Chief Gufwan expressed profound gratitude to the Plateau State Government for its commitment to advancing the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). He emphasized the importance of this development in fostering an inclusive society and improving the quality of life for PWDs.

Dr. Lengnen Jurmang, Chairman of the Plateau State Disability Rights Commission, applauded the state government for its support and praised Chief Gufwan for spearheading the establishment of zonal offices, which aim to improve accessibility and service delivery.

Similarly, Mr. Shindol Aaron, Chairman of JONAPWD, Plateau State chapter, commended the state government and urged them to create more employment opportunities for PWDs across the state.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Mutfwang, Hon. Peter Nyan Gai reiterated the administration’s dedication to inclusivity and equal opportunities for all citizens. He assured attendees that the governor would personally commission the office, further underscoring the government’s unwavering support for PWDs.

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handover of the building’s keys to Chief Ayuba Gufwan. The event was attended by senior officials of the NCPWD, dignitaries from Plateau State, and various stakeholders committed to advancing the rights and welfare of Persons with Disabilities.
