To mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, Oyo State First Lady, Engineer Tamunominini Makinde, organized an inspiring celebration for children with disabilities from 15 homes across the state. Themed “Celebrating Our Diversity, Empowering Our Future,” the event highlighted her dedication to inclusivity and empowerment.

Represented by the Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, Engineer Makinde’s speech encouraged the children, emphasizing that their disabilities do not define them but rather their talents and limitless potential. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, calling them heroes for their tireless dedication and love.

In her message, the First Lady said, “Our diversity makes us unique and capable. Every one of you is a reflection of this, and no challenge can stop your greatness. To caregivers, your efforts are invaluable, and you are changing lives every day.”

Through her Renewed Hope Initiative, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also contributed clothing and toys, further spreading joy.

The children and their caregivers received food items, toiletries, clothes, and cash donations. The event also offered free medical check-ups for attendees, with tests and medication provided. Female state commissioners, members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and government officials were present to show their support.

This event reflected the First Lady’s commitment to inclusivity, compassion, and empowerment in Oyo State.
