Onireti Donates Wheelchairs, Other Mobility Aids to PWDs in Oyo

Persons with disabilities in Igbo Ora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State have received a major boost to their mobility and independence following the donation of 116 wheelchairs and other assistive devices by Hon. Olufemi Onireti.

The donation, which took place on Thursday, also included five pairs of crutches, 20 walking sticks and 10 walking frames distributed to beneficiaries across the community. The intervention was widely applauded by disability advocates as a significant step towards improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities.

Reacting to the gesture, the Director of People with Disabilities, City Boy Movement, Oyo State Chapter, Dr. Olabisi Adebambo, described the initiative as a historic and life-changing intervention that has restored hope, dignity and independence to many beneficiaries. According to her, the mobility aids will enable recipients to participate more actively in education, employment, social activities and community development.

Dr. Adebambo, who witnessed the distribution, said the event was marked by emotional scenes as beneficiaries expressed joy and gratitude upon receiving the assistive devices. She noted that many recipients would now enjoy improved mobility and greater confidence in their daily lives.

On behalf of the Directorate of People with Disabilities, City Boy Movement, Oyo State Chapter, and the disability community in Igbo Ora, she commended Hon. Onireti for his compassion and commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society.

She added that the humanitarian gesture demonstrates inclusive leadership and called on other public office holders and philanthropists to emulate the initiative by investing in programmes that promote the welfare, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
