The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has generously approved the 2023 scholarship disbursement for children of civil servants who passed away while in service and students with disabilities in the state.
This initiative is aimed at supporting the children of late civil servants who died during their active years, ensuring they continue their education without financial strain. Similarly, the scholarship for students with disabilities is part of the government’s ongoing effort to empower individuals who, despite their physical challenges, strive to further their education and gain skills to help them thrive in society.
Both scholarship programs are open to students across all levels of education, from primary to tertiary institutions.
According to a statement from Dr. Godfrey Enita, Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, 628 children from over 200 families of deceased civil servants, along with 60 students with disabilities, will benefit from the 2023 scheme.
“Education is a cornerstone of Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda, which seeks to drive socio-economic development by empowering students, regardless of their background, to achieve their dreams and secure a brighter future,” the statement read.
