The National Health Insurance Scheme has promised special Health Care packages that will reflect better inclusion and more flexible options for Persons with Disabilities in Ogun State.
The Agency officials, led by Dr Tomi Fashina made this known when Executives of the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities in Ogun State made a courtesy visit to their office in Abeokuta.
The National Health Insurance Scheme held a round table discussion with the delegation on the matter of modifying Health Care Services insurance packages towards ensuring inclusivity of Persons with Disabilities in the State on more flexible grounds.
Mr Hammed Jimoh, who represented the Association also canvassed for provision of Sign Language Interpretation services at Health Care Centres.
The Agency, in it’s response said it has developed an insurance package to cater for six members of families of Persons with Disabilities at the rate of Fifteen thousand naira (N15,000) only, per year.
It also promised to ensure provision of Sign Language Interpreters at specific health care centers throughout the State. This, it says, will allow for accessibility of the Deaf in Government hospitals.
