NCPWD Launches 2nd Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduate Students with Disabilities in Public Tertiary Institutions

by Inclusive News Network

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has unveiled its second scholarship initiative aimed at supporting undergraduate Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The announcement was made by Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, through an official statement on Thursday.

The scholarship program is designed to provide financial assistance to indigent PWDs who are currently pursuing higher education.

The commission outlined a set of eligibility criteria for applicants, emphasizing the importance of academic performance and proper documentation.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Be an indigent person with disabilities.

2. Be a bonafide student of a public tertiary institution in Nigeria.

3. Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5.

4. Provide a letter of identification from their Local Government Area (LGA).

5. Undergo a physical verification process for all submitted applications.

6. Submit a letter of identification from their Head of Department (H.O.D).

7. Include a copy of their admission letter as part of the application.

8. Tuition fees will be paid directly to the candidates’ institutions.

9. Applications should be submitted via email to: scholarship@ncpwd.gov.ng.

The deadline for submitting applications is set for November 30th, 2024, giving eligible students ample time to apply and benefit from this opportunity. This scholarship scheme underscores NCPWD’s commitment to supporting students with disabilities in their pursuit of higher education, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of academic success.
