The historic appointment was announced on June 19, 2026, during the 2026 International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration organized by the National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities (NAPWPD), Mosan Okunola Chapter.

Prior to her appointment, Oluwasegun served as Chairman of the National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, Mosan Okunola Chapter. A teacher and accomplished para-volleyball player who has competed at both state and national levels, she has been actively involved in advocating for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Her appointment marks a significant milestone as the first disability-focused advisory position ever created within the LCDA.

Reacting to the appointment in an interview with Inclusive News Network (INN), Oluwasegun expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Akindele, for the confidence reposed in her. She commended the chairman’s commitment to advancing the welfare and inclusion of persons with disabilities, noting that the administration has consistently shown concern for disability-related issues. She also urged members of the disability community to uphold transparency, consistency, and selflessness while avoiding practices that could undermine the progress of disability advocacy.

Speaking on her vision for the office, the newly appointed Senior Special Assistant said she intends to build partnerships with international organizations that share a commitment to disability inclusion and empowerment.

According to her, such collaborations will help expand opportunities for persons with disabilities and promote their interests within the community.

The appointment is being celebrated as a historic breakthrough for disability representation in Mosan Okunola LCDA, Lagos State and a step toward greater participation of persons with disabilities in governance and decision-making.
