The Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Disability Matters, Hon. Timothy Olufemi, on Saturday, paid a courtesy visit to the Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Persons in Moniya, Ibadan.
Hon. Olufemi was in company of Reverend Femi Ibikunle, Special Assistant on Inter-faith; Hon. Biodun Oluwaseun, Former Special Assistant on Project Delivery; Hon. Akinsayo Musa, Former Supervisory Councillor, Ibadan North; and Hon. Oyedeji Olusegun, Supervisory Councillor, Ibadan South West.
According to him, the visit was part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s ongoing commitment to supporting people with disabilities in the state and his dedication to inclusivity, social support, and compassion.
During the visit, Hon. Olufemi expressed his deep admiration for the incredible strength and resilience exhibited by the young residents of the center.
He said: “It’s truly heartwarming to be here today and witness the boundless spirit and determination of these people with disabilities.
“Our visit is a testament to the Governor’s commitment to creating an inclusive and loving society where every child, regardless of their abilities, feels valued and cherished. We are dedicated to providing more resources to the center and other organizations that support people with disabilities in the state.”
Timothy, who engaged with the school staff to gain a better understanding of the school’s needs, also conducted a tour of the school’s facilities and observed that some of the facilities are in need of upgrade.
The Executive Assistant acknowledged the significance of such initiatives and promised to continue supporting the Rehabilitation Centre, which is dedicated to the welfare of the persons with disabilities.
According to Timothy, the visit not only put a smile on the faces of people with disabilities, but it also demonstrated the governor’s dedication to social support, inclusivity, and compassion.
“We want to make sure that all children in Oyo state have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their abilities” he added.
The EA commended Governor Makinde for establishing the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities and for appointing Barr. Ayodele Adekanmbi to lead it.
Hon. Olufemi also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion and the staff of the center for their dedication to the education of persons with disabilities.
The former Special Assistant on Project Delivery, Hon. Biodun Oluwaseun also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for giving persons with disabilities hope through programs tailored to their special needs.
He pledged unwavering support for their cause and assured them of his loyalty.
The Special Assistant on Inter-faith offered prayers for the persons with disabilities, urging them to remain steadfast. He reiterated Governor’s commitment to promoting their inclusion in all aspects of the government’s policies and programs.
