Mrs Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, the general manager, Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has emphasized the Agency’s unwavering commitment to combat discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), regardless of their social status or background.
She gave the assurance in an interview on tvcnewsng with @nifemioguntoye on “beyond 100 days” Friday, 29 March, 2024.
Oyetunde-Lawal said LASODA has already implemented several interventions to address cases of discrimination, and ongoing efforts continue to ensure equal treatment and inclusion.
According to her, “the agency remains dedicated to advancing the THEMES plus agenda set by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration. This agenda focuses on Social Inclusion, Gender Equality, and Youth Empowerment.
“As part of this commitment, LASODA plans to take advocacy and awareness initiatives to the grassroots level, engaging with people to understand the diverse needs of PWDs based on their specific disabilities.”
In a heartfelt appeal, the general manager urged everyone in the state to recognize the humanity of PWDs and consider their needs.
She added that the agency is actively working on amending the Lagos State Special People’s Law to comprehensively address the requirements and rights of Persons with Disabilities in Lagos State.
