Lalu Felicitates With Basthiya Wesley, Expresses Optimism For Brighter Future For PWDs In Nigeria

The Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. James David has said that the visibility given to persons with Disabilities by the ruling All Progressive Congress has started yielding the desired results.

Lalu made this disclosure in his office today 14th June, 2023 while receiving a delegation of Persons with Disabilities who came to sign the condolence register in honor of the late Barrister Danlami Barshiru.

“Though we are still in mourning but, I am particularly delighted that Persons with Disabilities are gaining their deserved recognition in Nigeria. I wish to congratulate the new Speaker of Adamawa State 8th Assembly, Hon. Barthiya Wesley, an amputee, who has just been elected as the Speaker of Adamawa State Assembly, a great feat for all of us in the Disability Community” He disclosed.

Lalu went further to say that this would be a second time in a row a person with disability is being alleviated to a sublime position, first being the newly elected Governor of Akwa Ibom State Pastor Uma Eno, a person with albinism.

The Executive Secretary also expressed his optimism and confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s led administration, stating that with Mr. President’s antecedence and body language, Persons with Disabilities have brighter future in Nigeria.

“This development is a new page in Nigeria’s democracy” the Executive Secretary asserted.
