Lalu Celebrated By Staff; Clarifies Issues On Disability Certificate

In an elated moment, and what could be described as a moment out of time, the Management and Staff of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities led by the Director Planning and Statistics, Mr. Sorji Adewale organized a surprised birthday get together to honour the Executive Secretary, Mr. James David Lalu, recently in Abuja.

Lalu who was visibility exhilarated by the show of love and appreciation used the moment to sue for peace in Nigeria.

“It is only where there are harmonious relationships that people remember to celebrate one another, we must embrace peace at all levels of our callings and endeavours in order to keep Nigeria as one” he said.

While addressing a coalition of Persons with disabilities whose visit coincided with the elated moment, the ES opined that the importance of the Disability Certificate cannot be over emphasized. He further clarified that the Certificate is for all PWDs and debunked the notion that it is not for persons with visible disabilities.

The Executive Secretary further disclosed that the Commission is making arrangements to partner With States’ Disability Commissions to create a means of reaching out to PWDs in the States in order to cub out the rigors of coming to Abuja to obtain the Certificates .

The ES used the opportunity to call on the newly employed staff of the Commission to make themselves available for proper orientation by their superiors to enable them understand the rudiments of Civil Service, he also advised them to abstain from any situation that might attract official queries.

The highlight of the occasion was the cutting of the giant birthday cake as supervised by the Director Procurement (NCPWD) Mrs. A.O Olushola and the recognition of the Head of the Media and Publicity (NCPWD) Mr. Mbanefo JohnMichaels and the ES’ Sign Language Communication Interpreter, Mr. Timothy Tinat by the Executive Secretary for their individual attainments of late.

In attendance were all the Directors and Heads of Units of the Commission and the ES’ beautiful wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Lalu.
