The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has distributed learning materials to pupils with disabilities at Tudun Maliki Special Education School in Kumbotso Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening inclusive education and improving learning opportunities for children with disabilities.
During a working visit to the school, the Executive Chairman of Kano SUBEB, Malam Yusuf Kabir, represented by the Board Secretary, Hajiya Amina Umar, said the initiative is part of the Board’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive education and ensure that learners with disabilities have equal access to quality basic education. He noted that the programme is designed to foster a sense of belonging among pupils, regardless of their physical or sensory abilities.
According to the Chairman, the learning materials will enhance teaching and learning by providing learners with the resources they need to participate effectively in classroom activities. He added that supporting children with disabilities through such interventions would improve their confidence, encourage regular school attendance, and enhance their academic performance. He also commended the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his commitment to advancing education and promoting inclusive learning across the state.
The distribution benefited visually impaired and hearing-impaired learners from Primary One to Primary Six, as well as students in Junior Secondary School (JSS) One to Three. Each beneficiary received a school bag, a pair of sandals, six exercise books, and six pencils. Malam Yusuf urged the pupils to make good use of the materials and remain dedicated to their education, assuring them of the Board’s continued support.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a source of motivation that would inspire them to study harder and attend school regularly. They pledged to use the learning materials responsibly.
The initiative underscores Kano SUBEB’s commitment to promoting equitable, inclusive, and quality basic education for all children in the state, in line with the education priorities of the Kano State Government and the Federal Government.
