There was a large turnout of persons with disabilities in the Federal Capital Territory on Sunday, August 23, 2026, as the City Boy Movement (CBM) commenced a weekly membership drive, data capture and verification exercise, recording over 2,000 persons with disabilities on its membership platform.
The exercise was led by the National Director, Persons with Disabilities Affairs of the CBM, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, as part of efforts to expand the movement’s membership base and establish an accurate and verifiable database ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The exercise took place across selected locations in the FCT following the commencement of the movement’s grassroots mobilisation activities in preparation for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director-General, Mobilisation, Hon. Gambo Manzo, the team visited Gwarinpa, Karu, Karamajigi, Deidei, Kabusa and Area 10, where they engaged residents and mobilised persons with disabilities to join the movement.
Abba Isa was assisted by the FCT Focal Person in charge of mobilisation, Hon. Yakubu Shekwolo Victor, during the exercise.
The membership drive recorded significant success, with more than 2,000 persons with disabilities reportedly captured and registered on the CBM membership platform.
Officials said the exercise would now be conducted weekly as part of the movement’s efforts to expand its membership nationwide and achieve its target of 10 million members and above.
In a memorandum issued by the office of the Director-General of CBM, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, all Deputy Directors-General, members of the National Working Committee, Zonal Directors and State Directors were directed to take note of the commencement of the weekly Membership Drive, Data Capture and Verification Exercise.
The exercise is expected to be conducted across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory as the movement intensifies its grassroots mobilisation.
The officials were further directed to accord the initiative top priority and ensure effective mobilisation at the local government, ward and community levels.
They were also tasked with meeting prescribed weekly targets, ensuring accurate registration and verification of members, as well as the timely submission of membership data.
According to the Directorate, the sustained exercise would strengthen the movement’s grassroots structure and provide a reliable membership database for effective mobilisation and engagement across communities.
The CBM said the weekly exercise would also help deepen its engagement with persons with disabilities and other community stakeholders as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
