Great Expectations Private School, an inclusive school that caters for the academic, social and emotional needs of children with disabilities and non-disabled children, has graduated some students with disabilities during its third valeditory/fund raising event on Saturday, in Ikorodu Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the occasion, Dr Ife Akintunde urged everyone to be solution driven.
According to him, “Great expectations private school exists not because they have only identified a problem but because they have equally identified the potentials the children face with these problems. Hence, the need for everyone to be solution driven”.
Chief Operation Officer of the school, Mrs Bisola Idowu emphasised that Great Expectations is not the regular special school you see around.
“we are very intentional with our teaching approach.”
“The unique dedication and commitment of our teachers, therapists and volunteers has brought us this far”.
“The school is happy to be graduating two students with Cerebral palsy, Emeka Abimbola Diayi and OgoOluwafarahan Awofe Idowu. Emeka joined us six years ago and has improve physically, mentally and academically. Our students have excelled in learning and character.
“We have since gone ahead to record very remarkable success with students with diverse forms of disabilities including children with cerebral palsy, dyslexia, autism, down syndrome etc.”
On her part, mummy Emeka testified to how much Great Expectations Private School has helped in the development of Emeka.
“My son was badly deformed, I was connected to two inclusive schools to enquire about their services for my child Emeka.
“Before then, Emeka was attending a regular Government school. When I got to Great Expectations Private School, the Holy Spirit told me I was at the right place. I’m happy I made the right decision to enrol Emeka in the school. I can confidently say that everyday I see emeka improve academically, physically and mentally.”
The event was graced with musical renditions by the students of the school.
