Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has awarded two disability sector educators with N500,000 each as part of this year’s Teachers’ Day celebrations.
Mrs. Adetoun Agboola, Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, praised the governor for his dedication to inclusive education and the recognition of these teachers. She described the award as a morale boost, noting that it was the first of its kind during Teachers’ Day in the state.
“This recognition underscores Governor Oyebanji’s unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive environment for educators and students alike. These teachers have faced tremendous challenges, adapting to new methodologies, increasing documentation demands, and intensive lesson preparation. Today, their dedication is being celebrated,” Agboola stated.
She added that this honor affirms the state’s support for the voices of teachers in the disability community, aligning with the governor’s vision of making education accessible for all.
This year’s Teachers’ Day carries the theme, “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.”
