Despite prevailing security challenges, the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre has distributed 110 wheelchairs to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Bukkuyum and Gummi Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.
The outreach, held on Sunday, was aimed at improving mobility, promoting independence and restoring dignity to Persons with Disabilities across the two local government areas.
Speaking during the distribution, the Foundation said the initiative was designed to provide beneficiaries with greater opportunities to participate in education, business and community activities.
“We believe that mobility is the first step to independence. Our hope is that these wheelchairs will open doors for our beneficiaries to pursue education, business and community life without barriers,” the Foundation stated.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with Dr. Suleiman Abubakar Gumi, the member representing Gummi and Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, who partnered with Beautiful Gate to facilitate the outreach.
Dr. Gumi commended the Foundation for extending support to vulnerable communities despite the prevailing challenges, and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting programmes that improve the wellbeing and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in his constituency.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre and Dr. Gumi, saying the wheelchairs would significantly improve their mobility and enable them to participate more actively in their daily and economic activities.
