The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Honorable Monsuru Oloyede Obe, has formally presented a parcel of land to Neurological Disorders Care Association for construction of an Inclusive School and Therapy Center.

Speaking during the presentation of a document containing letter of award of the parcel of land located on Morning Star Street, Aigbaka, Ejigbo and the land survey on Thursday, 27 June, at the Council Secretariat, the council mayor expressed joy at partnering with the Association to ensure the project is constructed into competion and ready for use.

Obe urged the Association to liaise with the council engineer to supervise the design to ensure it meets government standards.

President, Neurological Disorders Care Association (NDCA), Mr Mohammed Saka, while presenting a letter of appreciation to the mayor, pledged to use the land for it’s intended purpose.

Saka reiterated the need for government and society at large to support persons with disabilities (PWDs) and give them all the dignities they deserve. He called for an inclusive society that works for all.

Speaking further in an interview with Inclusive News Network, Saka noted that the school once completed would be exclusively owned by the Association with affiliation to Lagos State Ministry of Education.

Highlighting on why a new school is needed in the area, Mr Saka, a proud father of 12 years old, Cerebral Palsy boy, noted that PWDs in the Intellectual Cluster require specialized trainings and attentions.

According to him, “these trainings are not adequately available in the many schools around. Where they are available, they are very expensive and not accessible by most PWDs whose parents are the struggling masses.

“Ejigbo has a sizable number of our PWDs and doesn’t have this kind of facility yet.”

Saka calls for an inclusive society where the rights and dignities of PWDs are respected.

He enjoined all and sundry to stop social and economic discrimination against PWDs.
