In furtherance of the deliberate policy to mainstream disability issues in the entirety of the counter-trafficking activities of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Director General, Prof. Fatima Waziri – Azi, Ph.D., yesterday, Tuesday 26th September 2023, took delivery of some policy documents that were translated to readable literary material for people with disability by the National Commission for People with Disability (NCPWD).
The ceremony which was presided over by the duo of the Executive Secretary of the NCPWD, Mr. James David Lalu, and Prof. Fatima Waziri–Azi, took place at the conference room of the Commission, located at the Plateau House, Central Business District, Abuja.

Speaking shortly before receiving the translated materials, the NAPTIP DG said the Agency was deliberate about disability inclusiveness in issues of countering trafficking in Persons and violence against persons.
This according to her informed the production of its Disability Policy, the creation and strengthening of its Reforms Unit with disability desk, the involvement of sign language interpreter in all its activities as well making the Headquarters of the Agency accessible to people with disability through the construction of rails.
She disclosed that people with disabilities are more at risk of trafficking and exploitation due to their vulnerability as such unable to have access to justice.
She thanked the Management of the NCPWD for the gesture and promised a sustained collaboration with the Commission.
In his response, the Executive Secretary of NCPWD, Mr. James David Lalu, commended NAPTIP for its numerous disability-inclusive policies which include the development of the disability-inclusive policy, accessibility at the Agency’s facilities, compliance with the 5 percent employment of people with disability and the active collaboration with the Commission in all its programmes.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the official presentation of the translated policy document and enlightenment materials which include the NAPTIP Red Card, the Regulation 2019 Policy document, and others, to the DG, NAPTIP.
