Keffi, Nasarawa State – The Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission (NSDRC) has lauded the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, for her institution’s commitment to the national policy on special education.
This commendation came during an advocacy visit led by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Saleh Barde Keana, to the Vice-Chancellor’s office on Monday.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Mr. Keana highlighted that discussions during the visit focused on improving the welfare and inclusion of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) within the academic community. He emphasized the importance of forging strategic partnerships with institutions like NSUK to foster inclusive education and accessible learning environments.
He also disclosed the Commission’s plans to establish a taskforce that will monitor and enforce compliance with accessibility standards in public structures and institutions.
In her response, Professor Liman expressed gratitude for the visit and reiterated the university’s dedication to promoting inclusive education in line with constitutional and policy provisions. She assured the Commission that NSUK remains committed to supporting PWDs and enhancing accessibility across its campuses.
The visit concluded with the presentation of an award to the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of her unwavering support for disability-inclusive education.
