The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), has once again provided financial assistance to special homes and disability cluster groups across the state. In this latest initiative, nine special homes and six disability clusters each received a grant of ₦500,000. This follows a previous disbursement of ₦100,000 to 100 individuals living with disabilities just a month earlier.
During a briefing at LASODA’s office in Alausa Secretariat, the General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, highlighted that the funds are meant to empower caregivers and help them address the needs of individuals with disabilities under their care.
Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal reiterated that this support is part of the state government’s dedication to improving the lives of persons with disabilities (PWDs). She also emphasized the administration’s commitment to equipping caregivers and support groups with the resources needed to provide quality services.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, she noted, remains focused on ensuring no one is left behind, particularly persons with disabilities. She urged the recipient groups to secure Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certification and leverage social media to connect with potential supporters and stakeholders.
Looking ahead, LASODA is preparing additional programs aimed at providing both physical and mental health support to children and individuals with disabilities. Oyetunde-Lawal encouraged collaboration among the groups to maximize local and international opportunities to enhance their services.
