The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has provided financial assistance of N100,000 each to 200 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across the state as part of its annual welfare support initiative.
The intervention, held at the LASODA premises from Tuesday, September 22 to Friday, September 25, 2026, saw 50 PWDs receive the financial support daily, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 200.
Speaking during the programme, LASODA General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the initiative reflected the Lagos State Government’s commitment to its THEMES+ agenda and the principle of leaving no one behind.
Oyetunde-Lawal, who was represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Omolade Sonubi, acknowledged that financial assistance alone could not address all the challenges confronting PWDs, but noted that the intervention provided immediate relief while demonstrating the government’s responsiveness to the needs of the disability community.
“While financial assistance alone cannot address every challenge faced by Persons with Disabilities, it serves as an important intervention and demonstrates government’s responsiveness to the needs of our community. Through this initiative, we are providing immediate support to beneficiaries while reaffirming our commitment to promoting their well-being, dignity and inclusion,” she said.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously and for purposes that would contribute meaningfully to their welfare and livelihoods.
The LASODA General Manager also reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to improve the quality of life of PWDs and ensure that disability inclusion remains an integral part of Lagos State’s development agenda.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and LASODA, describing the financial assistance as a timely intervention that would help them meet immediate needs and support their livelihoods.
