Deaf Eagles Resume Full Training in Lagos Ahead of 2024 WADSU Games

The Deaf Eagles, Nigeria’s national deaf football team, have begun their full training camp in Lagos as they prepare to host the 2024 West African Deaf Sports Union (WADSU) Games.

Mr. Nehemiah Daret, Secretary General of the Nigerian Deaf Football Association (NDFA), disclosed in a statement made available to Inclusive News Network on Friday that, following a late scheduling decision, a one-week intensive camp has been organized to ensure the team is fully prepared for the upcoming tournament.

As reigning African champions, the Deaf Eagles remain dedicated to promoting deaf football across the continent. The Nigerian Deaf Football Association (NDFA) has graciously accepted the hosting rights for the WADSU Games, underscoring their passion for the sport and their readiness to lead by example.

Several key players have already arrived at the camp, including team captain Adegoke Adeoka, goalkeeper Samson Olatunji, and top striker Salaudeen Saleh. The full list of early arrivals includes:

A few additional players, such as defender Nelson Ishode and Mr. Adamu Sulaimon, are expected to join the camp soon.

Unfortunately, the team will be without key figures like Capt. Abubakar Mohammed, El-Saleh Yau, and Mr. Bulus Emmanuel, who are unable to attend. In total, 23 players are expected to participate in the camp as preparations intensify.

The NDFA expresses its gratitude for the continued support from fans and stakeholders as the team gears up for the WADSU Games.
