Centre for Citizens with disabilities CCD, has called for an integrated approach that ensures persons living with disabilities were engaged in COVID 19 response and recovery plan to enable them to Maximize their potential.
The Executive Director, CCD, Mr David Anyaele made the call at a news briefing in Abuja.
According to him, the Centre aimed at promoting inclusion, participation mainstreaming issues of all concern of citizens with disabilities.
Mr Anyaele who expressed worried that more than twenty-five million persons with disabilities in Nigeria are one of the excluded groups in the society who lack access to economic benefits as well as health care service delivery.
This call for the government at all levels to come up with policies and program that would address the vulnerability nature of persons with disabilities during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, he noted.
The Executive director CCD, also maintain that all COVID 19 related action must prohibit any forms of discrimination against the persons with disabilities at the response centre and ensure their inclusion, participation during planning and implementation.
The Centre reminded it’s members to maintain all Safety measures put up by the Government and the NCDC against the Coronavirus to contain the spread of the disease.
