The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) in collaborate with Beautiful Gate Handicapped People’s Center Jos, has donated 60 wheelchairs, 30 crutches, and other mobility aids to the persons with Disability in makurdi.
The mobility aids donated and presented to NAFOWA’s National President, Dr. Rakiya Abubakar, are expected to help beneficiaries in Makurdi, Benue State who are in need.
Chairperson of NAFOWA Benue State chapter, Mrs. F. O. Edosa, welcomed the guests and praised the National President of NAFOWA, Dr. Rakiya Abubakar for supporting people with disabilities.
Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command Makurdi, AVM F.O. Edosa, appreciated the partnership between Beautiful Gate Handicapped People’s Center Jos and Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA).
The Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People’s Center, Jos Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, in his remark expressed joy while witnessing the humanitarian gesture and sought further partnership with the Nigerian Air Force and the Nigerian Army to reach persons with disabilities in remote and hard-to-reach communities. He expressed appreciation to Mrs Azumi Danat of Azumi Ladi Danat Foundation for facilitating the current partnership between Beautiful Gate Handicapped People’s Center Jos and Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA).
The National President of NAFOWA and wife of the Chief of Air staff, Dr. Rakiya Abubakar, in her address thanked Beautiful Gate for their partnership. According to the NAFOWA President, the outreach is aimed at providing medical and humanitarian services to 150 beneficiaries, including people with disabilities and families of fallen Nigerian Air Force heroes.
Each beneficiary living with disability received a wheelchair or mobility aid, food items, and other essentials. Dr. Abubakar urged the beneficiaries to use their gifts positively and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
Despite having over 500 tricycle wheelchairs and mobility aids in selected states across North Western Nigeria, Beautiful Gate faces challenges in distributing them due to banditry and criminal activities. The center has distributed over 20,000 tricycle wheelchairs across nigeria.
