Bauchi Disability Agency Chairman Lauds BSAD For Conducting Peaceful Election

The Chairman of Bauchi state Agency for Persons with Disability Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed has commended the leadership of Bauchi State Association of the Deaf (BSAD) for conducting a free, fair and credible election to select the new Sarkin Kuramen Bauchi in the state recently.

Speaking in a telephone conversation with the Inclusive News Network shortly after the declaration of the winner of the contest, Hon Ibrahim Mohammed expressed immense satisfaction with the election result, saying “BSAD has played a vital role in conducting such a credible and peaceful election by allowing people to vote for their desired choices”

INN reports that the election of Sarkin Kuramen Bauchi took place at the premise of Kobi primary school on Sunday following the death of the former Sarkin Kuramen Bauchi, Malam Isah Haruna, on 18 April after briefly illness.

INN gathered that the chairman of electoral committee, Suleiman Ahmad has submitted five (5) candidates to the Deaf elders that willingly present themselves to contest for the position of Sarkin Kurame and asked the members of Bauchi Deaf community comprising elders and leaders of Deaf communities who are by tradition expected to exercise their authority by choosing one from the five listed earlier to serve as the new Sarkin Kuranen Bauchi.

It was however gathered during the peaceful election, one of the five nominees has rejected the offer and another one stepped down for Adamu Bala, paving way for only three nominees to contest for the coveted seat.

Immediately after the election, the Chairman of the electoral committee declared Mal Adamu Bala as the winner of the contest having polled 32 votes to defeat two of his opponents Mal. Sani Mallam Isah with 24 votes who came second and Mal. Mustapha Tanko Wali who scored 14 votes to clinch the third position in the contest.
