Bagudu Donates 100 Wheelchairs to Persons with Disabilities in Kebbi

by Inclusive News Network

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, has donated 100 wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in Kebbi State, aiming to enhance their mobility and economic independence.

The presentation ceremony took place on Thursday at the Haliru Abdu Multipurpose Stadium in Birnin Kebbi. The donation, part of a collaborative effort with Halima Danjuma Fatauci and the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People’s Centre in Jos, is meant to empower beneficiaries and discourage street begging.

Halima Fatauci, who initiated the programme, said her passion for disability advocacy was ignited after witnessing a young boy in Argungu crawling painfully under the scorching sun due to his inability to walk. The emotional encounter spurred her to reach out to Beautiful Gate for support, and with the Minister’s endorsement, the collaboration secured the wheelchairs and covered their transport from Jos to Birnin Kebbi.

Fatauci emphasized that the wheelchairs must not be resold, as they are intended solely to support the beneficiaries’ dignity and independence.
