The Cedar Seed Foundation has completed voter education training for targeted 20, 000 persons with disabilities women and youth across FCT and Kaduna states.
The ten days training which commenced from November 16, reached over 20,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs), equipped them with voter education and inclusive electoral processes. The event was supported by United Nations Development Program and implemented by Cedar Seed Foundation.
Speaking to Inclusive News Network, Shedrack Danladi Project Officer, CSF, said the organisation has concluded the ten days training on the 26th of November and have reached more than 20 thousand citizens both in Abuja and Kaduna state.
He said “The ten days engagement across the implementation location has shown us how citizens are angry with the Nigerian Political leaders. Many of them expressed their dissatisfaction on the state of things in the county, which they feel is a waste of time to go out and vote.”
Danladi however said, the organisation was able to encouraged them and gave them reasons to come out and vote during elections.
“The experience is very awesome, there is joy in dealing with grassroots citizens directly.
“Our next plan is to keep advocating for a credible and inclusive electoral processes. As far as disability inclusion is concerned. In everything, there will always be challenges but our success story outside the challenges.”
Danladi urges Persons with Disabilities to turn out to vote because according to him, “it is through voting the status can be changed.”
He also thanked UNDP for their huge support throughout the project through to its successful conclusion.
