The need for regular promotion of understanding of Disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, right and well-being of persons with disabilities has again been emphasised.
People with Disabilities from across 20 local government areas of ogun state converged at an event organized by Joint Association of person with disability (JONAPWD) Ogun state chapter at Hon Fatilami Abubakar Recreation centre oke ilewo Abeokuta to celebrate year 2022 international day for persons with disabilities.
Chairman, Joint Association of Persons with Disability Ogun State Chapter, Dr Michael Ebonhor speaking at a parley with newsmen, highlighted among other things plights of the persons with Disabilities that need urgent attention from the government.
Speaking on this year’s theme “Tranformative solutions for inclusive development:The role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world”, Former Chairman of the association, Dr Olalekan Muhammed says innovation at work place, practical tools and good practices would reduce inequalities in both public and private sectors.
Disability Desk officer, Ogun State Command NSCDC Dsc Mariam Osinyade says that the Command has directed all state nationwide to create Disability Duty Desk where person with Disability will lay their complaints while she urged member of the public to be friendly and accommodating with person with disability.
In their goodwill messages, the Representative of Ogun State commissioner for Education, and the founder of Pen Pushing media Kayode Adedeji commended organizers of the event with a pledge to always support the association.
The chairman of the association led the media on tour of facilities at the secretariat with a call on Ogun state government to come to their aid by renovating the building.
