We Will Set Up Ministry For Persons With Disability – Jandor, PDP Guber-Candidate

by Sejoro Ekundayo

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has pledged to establish a Ministry of Disabilities Affairs in the State if elected Governor.

Adediran made the promise on Sunday during his campaign visit to Persons with Disabilities, artisans and clergies in Ajara Agamathen, Badagry.

He said: “our administration will create a ministry for Disability Affairs. It is one of our campaign promises. One of you will be a commissioner in charge of the Ministry. There will also be a Ministry for children Affairs.”

“Our Government will represent the old, youth and women. We will ensure they are given priorities in the society. Vote your conscience and We will work for the interest and development of this division if elected.

“Jandor is for poor people, so we are talking about free primary and secondary education. School uniforms will be given to the children free. We are going to do it free while making it compulsory for all children to attend school.”

“We have faith that if we sit down and do the sacrifice, the prayers will be answered. The prayers you made some time ago, God has answered them. The next one is the election and only God can answer the prayers.

Leader of PWDs in Badagry, Barnabas Raji, while calling on fellow PWDs to support Jandor’s gubernatorial aspiration seized the opportunity to ask the Guber-candidate to table his offers for People with Disabilities.

While presenting the challenges faced by PWDs in Badagry, he called for appointment of special assistant to Local Government Chairman on disability matters in Badagry.

According to the PWD leader, Local Government chairman has not done much to empower PWDs in the locality. We need empowerment initiatives, he said.

“Another issue of concern is the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) which is far from our location in Badagry.

“It is not easy for some of us to travel all the way to Alausa, Ikeja and back just to submit forms or other documents. We appeal for a branch of LASODA in our Local Government.”

Raji, a strong supporter of PDP, urged the Guber-candidate to build ramps and other accessibility facilities in public buildings and structures across Badagry to ease mobility challenges of PWDs.
